At the beginning of 2020, Rootlab was given a fly through concept rendering and a set of rough architectural plans for the proposed 15,000 SF Matter & Motion Chemistry and Physics Hall at Houston Museum of Natural Science. Fast forward through one global pandemic and 15+ other massive projects and it's finally real!
Rootlab provided technical design, engineering design, fabrication and installation of 56 exhibits for Matter & Motion. The hall opened in March 2024, features kinetic interactive elements, complex sculptures, custom electronics, integrated lighting and high touch, non-linear cabinetry all produced in house.
This project was made possible through the heroic collaborative efforts of HMNS, PBExhibits, Christensen Lighting, 64 Design and RK Roden.
This gallery is for the Brain side. See Dancefloor side for other half of the project.
